Southport councillor Janis Blackburne was under investigation from Labour for two innocuous retweets. While she waited to hear the result of the investigation, she continued to fulfil her duties as a councillor and to campaign for the forthcoming election. However, one day after she handed in her nomination papers she was suspended by the Labour Party and is no longer able to stand. Janis says she is not the only councillor to have been treated in this way by Labour in the North West – but none of this is being reported.
