The hearing of the Filton 18 at the Old Bailey attracted a large protest crowd outside the court.
Not long into the protest a number of police converged on Waseem Yousaf and told him he was being arrested – on spurious ‘assault’ charges. Over a dozen police bundled him into the back of a van.
A number of people sat down in front of the van and, when the van tried to reverse, more people stood their ground behind the van. The crowd refused to move until Waseem was released and, 42 minutes later, the police decided it was in the interest of public safety that they release Waseem.
Hear the uplifting story of Wassem Yousaf’s arrest – and unarrest.
